The daily grind consumes us like a current. Like robots, we are conditioned to do what is expected of us. We tend to get stuck so deep in our routines that they become all we know.

It is not often you meet somebody who remembers to stop, breathe, reflect, and continually nurture their wellbeing. We forget. There are too many appointments, emails, obligations, to-do lists, apologies, regrets. After all, we are only trying to make it through the week alive. We forget to strive towards being the best version of ourselves. We forget the importance of our overall wellness.

What do you consider the word wellness to mean?

And more importantly, what constitutes a healthy wellbeing? How can you discover the best version of yourself?

It is commonly held that there are 7 dimensions of wellness that work collectively to promote a holistic, balanced wellbeing. Rest. Nutrition. Finance. Mind. Growth. Movement. Connection. And at Melbourne-based wellness collective Wellineux, an 8th: Discovery, was created, in order to help us explore the other areas of wellness thoroughly.

It is so easy to neglect one or a few of these dimensions. You might think that because you work out a few times a week, eat relatively healthily most days, and get enough sleep to function, that you are nurturing your wellbeing quite well. But what about fostering positive relationships and constantly seeking to evolve and learn to be the best you can be? In order to fully realise your potential and achieve ultimate wellness as a whole, all 8 dimensions have to be given equal attention and care. Wellineux encourages us to look deep into our souls and listen to our spirit to discover the changes we need to make to become our best selves.

So who exactly are Wellineux and what do they do? Grace and I sat down with co-founder Amanda and digital marketing ambassador Sarah at Tally Health in South Melbourne, wanting to learn more about their game-changing initiative that we’ve been admiring for months.

Founded just over a year ago by Amanda & Brent McMillan and Michelle & Paul McCartan, Wellineux is a Melbourne-based wellness collective with the core value of inspiring and empowering individuals to incorporate holistic wellness.  They offer practical, immediately actionable and innovative health, wellbeing and mindfulness support to individuals and corporates alike. The team behind Wellineux believe that everybody deserves to live their best lives, and all have the right to feel empowered, to look, feel and be our best.

We asked Amanda why she started Wellineux. She shared that it was a combination of many different things; having two young kids, owning a large training business and supporting her husband through the ups and downs of depression. She wanted to further explore her curiosity about the effect that wellness can have on mental health, and the notion that you can manage things without medication.

Together, the Wellineux team have come up with wellness solutions that are focused on self-awareness, acceptance, education and inspiration, growth and joy. Although primarily Melbourne-based, Michelle and Paul reside in the U.K. where she writes books and programs, and offers tailor made coaching and solo retreats.

So how exactly do Wellineux help you to discover the best version of yourself?

Urban retreats: Having successfully launched their personal retreats last July, they now offer corporate retreats. These help people achieve their ideal work life blend. ‘If you have massive milestones coming up, the retreats show you how to look after yourself in these periods of time’, Amanda explains. Retreats are generally expensive in Australia and not usually local, but Wellineux retreats take people out for a day in Melbourne, exposing them to yoga, nourishing  food, discovery sessions, a float and a massage. Personal retreats run on a Sunday once a month in South Melbourne (click here to book into the next one on April 17th!) and corporate retreats run every 2-3 weeks (click here to learn more). Talk to the team about curating a retreat specific to your needs. These retreats allow guests to walk away with more clarity, a clear headspace and feeling rejuvenated for the weeks ahead.

Wellness Workshops featuring Melbourne’s best guest speakers, where the community can get together and inspire each other while learning how to nourish each of the 8 wellness dimensions. The upcoming Atelier – Growth workshop (click here to book now) features Sarah Holloway and Nic Davidson, founders of Matcha Maiden, and co-owners of the newly opened Matcha Mylkbar

Journey of Me Guide: The journal comprises of eight chapters, one to be completed each month and each month focusing one of the 8 dimensions of wellness. With questions like ‘Are you proud of your values?’ and ‘How would you like to be remembered by others’, the JOM encourages you to connect with yourself and brings to light things you never noticed about yourself. We recommend everyone start their JOM journey and regularly reflect back on what you have learnt. You can download the first month of the JOM for free HERE.

Where to next?

Wellineux just launched their Kick-starter Program, as Amanda puts it, is the ‘next big thing’. This program aims to motivate people to start working on the JOM themselves. It includes a intentions kit, a JOM and an hour long coaching program to kick start your journey and open you up to the idea of beginning your JOM journey.

Wellineux is changing the game. Instead of being limited to what you think you know about yourself and remaining stagnant, Wellineux offers a way for you to continually grow and develop as a person. Here at The Goodness Collective, we are big advocates for what Wellineux do and encourage you to begin a journey towards ultimate wellness with them.

Wellineux also offer Mindfulness Leadership Training.
