Barre is one of those workouts that can seem a tad intimidating if it’s your first class. Is it a ballet class? Do dance on my toes? Do I wear a tutu? Should I watch Swan Lake first? Thanks to Xtend Barre and Class Pass, we discovered the answer to all of these questions is a big no.
Located right next to Southern Cross Station in Melbourne’s CBD, Xtend Barre is a welcoming studio. Offering bright and open space, expect to be greeted warming & receive a full studio tour prior to your first class. The inspiration behind the studio was to create a sanctuary in the world’s most livable city (go Melbourne!), to create a strong community & to promote holistic wellness.
Studio owner Susan was inspired by her own wellness journey. “Having to work in corporate for almost a decade, taking care of my wellbeing never was my priority. I was introduced to Xtend Barre by a close friend of mine and after my first class, I never looked back.”
Never taken a barre class before? Don’t stress. Classes for all fitness levels are available- whether you’re danced in Swan Lake or have two left feet. Xtend's barre method program is world class; a fusion of ballet and pilates which tones every inch of the body. After taking a barre class here, we can certainly see why!
Their signature Xtend Barre class is a 55 minutes high-energy workout. Expect a full body workout- a blend of ballet moves with weights, cardio & stretching, all set to the beat of a great soundtrack. The instructors are helpful & motivating- an important element that I appreciated as a barre newbie. Other classes offered include Pilates Fusion, Fit Ball (think strong core & stability), Circuit & Stretch- so there really is something for everyone.
In addition to their CBD location, Xtend Barre also has studios in Bayside, Essendon & Hawthorn. Sign up via easily via their website (and receive 50% off of all membership prices!), or via the Classpass app.
